Our Chile Chapter Head, Tomás Bórquez, organized activities for A Week of Science! It started with English on the Streets, which was led by Andrea Lizasoain Conejeros, and about 30 students participated in it. The objective was to create awareness that English is not an unattainable language, but, on the contrary, it is already part of our lives, beyond the school curriculum. It is all around in the streets, in songs, or on the internet, and is important to learn in order to access common and specialized knowledge. This was followed by a deep dive session on Biodiversity in Chilean Fauna. This activity was led by Mauricio Fuentes, an ornithologist and environmental mediator with the objective to educate secondary school students about native birds and the ecosystem they live in. According to the SACC, the avifauna of Chile has 525 confirmed species, of which 12 are endemic, and 128 are rare or vagrants. The Andean Condor is the National Bird of Chile.
