The Georgia Chapter leads Vidya and Suhana coordinated an exciting STEM workshop on acids and bases at the Milton Library in Georgia. Topics included: the scientific method, a fun experiment with invisible ink, followed by a discussion on pH values and how red cabbage extract can act as a pH indicator to test whether substances are acidic or alkaline. The structures of anthocyanin pigments, which gives red cabbage its color, subtly changes with varying pH. These different structures give a range of colors. All students attending were very engaged in these hands-on activities and they look forward to participating in more of such exciting workshops!
